All your news and search tools on one page

Most people have a homepage set up on their browser that takes them quickly to a popular news page or their favourite site.  But if you’ve got a whole bunch of favourite sites then it can take you some time to catch up with what’s going on on those sites, particularly if you haven’t been to it in a few days.

One way to quickly and easily catch up on your favourite sites is to set up a custom homepage with a service like ProtoPage.

The first time you visit the ProtoPage site you’ll be presented with a template homepage to get started with.  You can move any of the objects around on the screen and change which sites are covered.

Pretty much any news or reference site will have an RSS feed which ProtoPage will scrape in order to provide the latest articles from that page.  Just type in the URL of the website you’d like to cover and ProtoPage will do the rest.

It’s really easy to set up your homepage exactly as you’d like it.  Within 5 minutes I had a page for myself set up with all my favourite sites included.

Once you’ve set up your homepage it’s just a case of registering with ProtoPage using your email address in order to save your preferences.

The last thing you’ll need to do is set your web browser to automatically go to your ProtoPage whenever you open your browser of hit the home button.  Luckily, ProtoPage is clever enough to work out what browser you’re using and provide you with clear and concise instructions on how to set this up.

After that, you’re done!  You’ll now get an up to date feed from all of your favourite sites whenever you open your web browser.
