War….. War never changes.
It had been widely anticipated that Bethesda would make some sort of announcement regarding the next installment in the Fallout franchise at this years E3 event, but it seems they’ve jumped the gun and put out a video announcing Fallout 4 a couple of weeks in advance.
Almost no clue is given as to the game other than it will indeed be a sequel to the immensely succesful Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas games, and that it will be released for the current gen consoles and PC.
That being said, just because it’s got a “4” at the end of the title doesn’t mean that it will be a direct sequel to Fallout 3. Other games in the franchise haven’t really built on the stories of previous titles, instead they just take place in the same universe (though not necessarily in the same place) some years after the previous title.
That being said we can probably expect this title to take place sometime after 2281, which was the setting for the last game, Fallout: New Vegas. Or, it could be some other time, we’re pretty much clueless at this point. A full break down of timings for the Fallout universe can be found on this Fallout Wiki
