LG ANNOUNCE MONSTER ULTRA-WIDESCREEN MONITOR

34″ of 21:9 goodness

I’m still catching up with my emails after moving recently, but this one from LG jumped out at me straight away.  Their latest monitor is a 34″ beast that looks a little strange at first glance, in fact I initially thought they’d sent me a squashed up image.

LG LAUNCHES NEW MONITOR 34UM95

The  Ultrawide QHD (model number 34UM95) is a 21:9, 34″ IPS monitor with a resolution of 3440 x 1440, designed for professionals and über-nerds who need a lot of screen real estate.

The QHD supports Thunderbolt 2 connectivity, allowing you to connect multiple monitors and data devices to a single 20Gbps cable into the back of your PC or Mac.

Hyoung-sei Park, Head of the IT Business Division at LG Electronics, had the following to say:

“The latest monitor is a remarkably versatile device with exceptional picture quality and built-in stereo speakers to bring video and content to life, helping creative professionals work smarter and more efficiently. We are committed to providing a solution that is second-to-none and we are excited to bring the newest model in the line up to the UK market, allowing users to enjoy stunning colour accuracy and an incredible level of detail for an advanced viewing pleasure.

“It’s a perfect solution for working on multimedia projects and computer-aided graphics as well as gaming enthusiasts looking to enhance the entertainment experience. Through products like this, LG will continue to expand its offerings to professionals in the creative arts and we have no doubt that this will be well received in the UK.”

Would I like a monitor this big in my study?  Probably not, it’s just too big for me.  But, the ultra-wide 21:9 aspect ratio is sure to intrigue professionals and gamers alike.

The Ultrawide QHD will be available in the UK from May, no word on pricing at time of writing.
