Synology announces two new business storage solutions

Freestanding and rack mount storage giants

Synology today announced two new storage solutions for the enterprise market.

The first is the DS713; a two-bay model which can be expanded using an optional DX513 expansion unit to provide up to 28TB of storage.  It features a dual core Intel processor running at 2.13GHz paired with 1GB of DDR3 memory.

In terms of connectivity it features 2 x USB3, 1 x USB2 and 1 x eSATA ports, as well as dual Gigabit LAN interfaces.

That’s nothing compared to the RS3413xs+, which features a quad core Intel Xeon processor running at 3.3GHz, paired with 8GB of ECC DDR3 RAM (upgradable to 32GB).  This time around you get 4 x USB2 ports as well as two proprietary expansion ports for further rack mount modules, bringing your total storage capacity to a potential 34 physical disks.

Both devices are capable of virtualisation via VMware, Citrix and HyperV.

No word on price for either device,
