Shadowgun pushes the boundaries of mobile gaming

Futuristic shooter certainly looks shiny.

Yesterday marked the release of possibly the most advanced game for a mobile device ever; Shadowgun for iOS and (soon) Android devices.

Based on the Unity platform, Shadowgun is a third person shoot-em-up set in the year 2350.  The protagonist is John Slade, a bitter bounty hunter employed to track down a renowned geneticist; Dr. Edgar Simon.

The games ten levels take place in the mad doctor’s fortress, with enemies including mutants, Cyborgs and and genetically enhanced humanoids.

The game is available now for iOS devices, owners of iPad’s, iPhone 3GS/4 and iPod 4 will be pleased to learn it will play on each of these devices.

The final touches are currently being put on the Android version, which is slated for an October release.  Though only devices based upon Nvidia’s Tegra platform need apply.  Other devices, no matter how powerful, will not be supported at this time.

Madfinger Games president Marek Rabas had the following to say:

“Shadowgun pushes the boundaries of what is possible graphically on today’s mobile devices, once a gamer picks up Shadowgun and experiences the amazing visuals, combined with the fast-paced, immersive gameplay, they will never be able to look at mobile games the same.”

From looking at the release trailor, I’d have to agree; that is one fine looking game:

Shadowgun is available now on the App Store, priced at £5.49.
