Review: Redragon Gainer M610 Mouse

I’ve never bought in to the idea that you need to spend an awful lot of money to get a usable experience with a mouse. Not to say that the uber-expensive offerings from Logitech or Corsair aren’t good products, they just don’t offer the best bang for the buck.

My preference has always been to spend less than £20 on a mouse, something I’ve managed to achieve with room to spare with the Redragon Gainer M610 mouse.

Out of the box the M610 looks like an item costing much more than the £7.50 it set me back. The plastic feels of a high quality and is silky to the touch and comfortable in the palm.

To either side are indentations that allow for better grip and for the LED lighting to escape. The cord is a rubberised plastic variety but the connector feels sturdy. It would have been nice if it featured a braided cable, but at this price point I’m not going to argue.

In terms of functionality the M610 is a prestty basic offering. You have your traditional left and right click buttons and a scroll wheel with a centre click built in. By the thumb rest you have a further two buttons for forward and back.

You also have a DPI selection button just beneath the scroll wheel which allows you to select between 1000, 1600, 2400 and 3200 dpi resolutions, allowing you to change modes depending on game or activity.

Interestingly with this model the LED colour changes depending on the DPI mode selected. Each DPI above has a respective colour mode of red, blue, green and purple. These colours can’t be changed, and it’s a shame that the LEDs inside cannot be controlled through software, but again at this price point I’m definitely not going to complain.

In terms of using the mouse, I’ve been using it as my daily driver for several days now and I find it a very comfortable experience. In normal PC usage the hand rest comfortably on the mouse and the tactile feel of the plastic feels quite pleasant. For casual gaming I find the M610 to be an excellent replacement for my previous Kensington mouse, with prolonged use being no problem. The DPI selection facility is perfect for games such as PUBG where you may want to switch from a high to low DPI setting depending on what you’re doing.

Overall the Redragon M610 Gaming Mouse is an excellent product at a budget price, I would highly recommend it.
