My Ryzen 3900X / 5700XT Build

Never one to be fully satisfied I decided I needed a faster processor in my personal rig, and seeing as I didn’t have £750 to burn on AMDs flagship 3950X I had to set my sights one rung lower and settle for the 3900X.

This thing is an absolute beast, in Cinebench I’m pulling down a score of over 7000, which obliterates anything that Intel have at this pricepoint and also dethrones AMDs first gen Threadripper 1950X!

What’s more, with some simple overlcocking using AMDs Ryzen Master app it can be pushed to a very respectful speed without sacrificing stability by reducing the core voltage.

I’m very happy with this build so far. Video rendering speed has improved significantly meaning I can usually edit and render a video in one night without having to leave it to complete while I sleep.

What’s more the gaming performance is the best I’ve ever had, the 3900X is certainly not holding back the 5700XT GPU. I’m clocking in respectable (>60fps) framerates in Shadow of the Tomb Raider at 1440p and getting somewhat usable results (>40fps) at 4K.

Check out the build below:

The next step for this build is to do something I’ve always wanted to do; water cooling! Stay tuned for that one.
