Belkin brings LifeProof protective covers to the UK

Protect your iDevice and Galaxy SIII from mother nature.

UK accessory producer Belkin (who, incidentally, are located 6 miles from TME and still won’t send us review samples) have today announced a partnership with US firm LifeProof to bring LifeProof’s range of protective covers to the UK for the first time.

Lifeproof’s range includes cases to fit the iPhone 4, 4S and 5, iPad 2, iPad (3rd Generation), iPad (4th Generation) and iPod touch (4th Generation).  They’re also promising a range of solutions to fit the Samsung Galaxy SIII.

Of course, hardcore protective cases are nothing new, but LifeProof claim that their offerings comply with recognised standards such as “Military Standard 810F-516 against shock, and section IP 68 of the IEL 60592 standard against dirt and water ingress”.  Now, I’ve tried to look up those standards online but couldn’t find anything measurable, but it sounds good.

That being said, the cases do look like they could stand up to a fair bit of punishment, the photos that I’ve been sent by Belkin sent show some pretty excessive protection (though perhaps not when you consider the cost of some of these devices).

Gary Rayner, LifeProof founder and CEO had the following to say:

“We’re delighted to be able to share Belkin’s extensive channel network and experience of the EMEA market to bring our products to consumers in Europe. LifeProof’s mantra is Freedom, and like Belkin, we create products that allow consumers to stay connected and use their mobile devices everyday, everywhere, for everything”

LifeProof’s range of products will be available via Belkin from mid-January.  No word on pricing, but from looking at the cases I’d guess they’ll be expensive!
